FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For long distance moves, we charge a low flat fee that includes all expenses and labor including truck, gas, road expenses, loading, unloading and driving. We use rental trucks, so we include the cost of the truck (as well as a plane ticket back for 1-ways) in our quote. The customer pays those costs ahead themselves and they then come off of the quote.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After initial contact by phone or email, we ask for a list of items to be moved and the location layouts to determine what vehicle is needed and the approximate time involved to load and unload. Then we give a rate quote. After confirming the customer would like our help, we determine a date and time for the move.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I did delivery work in Des Moines and one of my routes was dropped. I needed another use for my cargo van and figured I could do small moves that most movers wouldn't do. Our business took off. My partner Bernard now does our local moves in the Des Moines area and I drive over 40,000 miles of long-distance moving each year.
