About
A little about myself, I am a graduate from VanderCook College of Music where I received my Bachelors of Music Education degree and Illinois Teaching License. I focused primarily on classical guitar as my major instrument. I have a strong passion for playing guitar and teaching it. I have been teaching lessons for 15 years, and have had a wide array of students. I teach all ages and all skill levels.
Here's a quick list of the type of things you can expect to learn through my lessons;
Proper holding position, posture, and playing technique.
Finger picking playing style
Ability to read written sheet music
Ability to read and count rhythm
Play a wide variety of repertoire ranging from rock to classical
Improvisation of grooves, melodies, and harmonies.
And most importantly, musicianship.
I prefer to have one, one hour lesson per week either online or in person. Intermediate/advanced students may benefit from biweekly lessons.

Started taking lessons from Shaun about 6 weeks ago. So far i've learned a lot about the basics and going at the right speed. He gives assignments to do every week to help improve skills which is awesome. So far my experience has been awesome for someone that is completely new to a classical guitar. His style of teaching is easy to understand. In the end its up to the student to put in the practice to really get better at it.

I am a month's worth of lessons in (four in total) and I absolutely enjoy it. I have had my guitar screaming at me for years to give it attention and it wasn't until now that I could completely devote time to it. Shaun is great. He's smart, funny, a total people-person, and kind. It's mesmerizing to watch him play. If that could be my class I would be happy with that. Slow and steady wins the race, but I know I'll get better with his lessons.

I've only had a few lessons with Shaun so far but I'm impressed already with his teaching method, and his deep understanding of classic guitar (and his talent). I'm looking forward to really learning how to play guitar under his tutelage. I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in not only learning how to play classical guitar, but understanding the fundamentals as well.

Shaun is a fantastic teacher! He takes the time and really builds the lessons to each individual. Also has adapted really well to having to use Zoom for lessons. I’ve shown a lot of improvement just from a few lessons with Shaun.

Shaun is a great teacher! He helps guide through the basics, while also tailoring the lessons towards individual goals. He’s clearly quite musically knowledgeable and is able to navigate beginner issues with useful tips and tricks. He also does a great job navigating Zoom lessons. I would highly recommend!
