FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Basic Services: 1. Assessments 2. Board and Train 3. Day Training 4. In-Home Training Pricing: 1. Assessments: I assess the situation and decide what would be the best route to take on training options and customized training plans for you and your dog's specific needs. Assessments usually last 45 minutes to an hour. *Assessments always cost $75.00 2. Board and Train: Your dog comes to stay with me in my family home (open kennel) where I train what you specify to work on. I will advise you on training options and recommendations, but ultimately I make my training plan according to your specified needs. *Board and Train is $55/day and usually ranges between 10 and 20 days in length. 3. Day Training: You drop your dog off in the morning and pick them up that evening. Day training takes place at my family home (open kennel) where I train what you specify to work on. I will advise you on training options and recommendations, but ultimately I make my training plan according to your specified needs. It's like sending your pup to a fun learning day camp where they get to spend time with other dogs, and cats, and people all day. *Day training is $45/day and most day training clients bring their dog anywhere from 10 to 30 days, it depends on your dog's training needs. 4. In-Home Training: I come to your home and train for an hour session, one time per week for 6-8 weeks. During this, I am training the dog, but am also teaching you how to keep up the training between sessions. At the end of the 6-8 weeks, you will have learned how to train your dog basics and general obedience, or how to stop unwanted behaviors in the future. All training plans require an assessment to start the training. Training Plans: *Puppy Obedience (1 session)$50 or (6 sessions) $250 - save $50 *Basic Obedience (1 session)$50 or (6 sessions) $250 - save $50 *Aggression (1 session) $90 or (6 sessions) $490 - save $50 ***NOT ALL AGGRESSION CASES WILL BE TAKEN ON*** I also offer problem-solving sessions. (Teaching manners: no jump, no beg, no guard food, no bark, and how to get your dog to focus on you no matter the situation) *Problem solving (1 session) $40 or (6 sessions) $200 - save $40 *I charge $0.30 per mile for traveling fee on top of my In-Home prices, as I do travel to you. If you would like to bring your dog to me for an "in-home" session at my home, it would be priced without a traveling fee.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For an Assessment: Basically, I come to your home, or you bring your dog to check out the Board and Train/Day Training Area of my home. I assess the dog's and family's level of need, and what training options would fit the situation the best. Then we move to plan the next session (for In-Home), or the drop off date (for Board and Train/Day Training). Then I usually offer a small demonstration of how I train, and my training style and way. For In-Home Sessions: First, we set up an assessment. The assessment gives me a chance to get to know you and to work with your dog. It helps me start to see your dog's behavior, and form a plan specifically tailored to your dog's needs. Then I formulate the training plan and how many sessions I recommend, and we set it up. Plans are set up depending on the type of training your dog needs. For Board and Train or Day Training: After your dog qualifies to do the Board and Train or Day Training (meaning they are social enough to be around the other animals), then we set up a drop off time and discuss the length of stay/number of day training days needed and expectations/requirements for the training.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified through Animal Behavior College as a Certified Dog Trainer. I did an externship through Animal Rescue League and a kennel club in Ames for my certification that required me to go through an obedience class with my dog, then to help train an obedience class, then to take the lead training an obedience class. I never stopped learning. I continue my education every day, learning dog behavior, as well as studying methods of training, and following many other trainers through the internet to compare and contrast my training style and technique with others and try to better myself.
