I am a few weeks late posting this review but I simply had to make time to say what a WONDERFUL company North Island catering is!! We not only had the very BEST service from the moment I sent request looking for a catering company for our event, but the food, service, bartenders, chefs, waiters and waitresses all did a phenomenal job start to finish! The owners were always a phone call or email away and answered my calls almost on the first ring every single time! We had meetings before our event to be sure we were all on the same page with every detail and they certainly did not miss a thing! We were hosting our Daughter's going away party into the Coast Guard. We held the party outdoors on our dock at our harbor downtown Chicago. We had to have hundreds of guests throughout the evening and every single guest mentioned to us how delicious the food was and the great service they received from the chef, waiter, waitresses and bartender! We will certainly hire this company each and every time we host a party! They made this event go so smoothly that it was so nice to have a stress free party and enjoy time with all of our guests without having any of the stress or headaches that can come along with parties that size. North Island Catering did an outstanding job of catering a summer party for 100+ people. We hired them to do the catering, serving, and bartending. First let's talk about the food, not only do they offer a wide variety of options but the food was amazing. Bacon wrapped shrimp and spicy chicken sandwich are a must! Several guests asked who did the catering cause they wanted to hire them. Second, the staff was not only polite and professional but went out of their way to make sure that everything went smoothly and we were happy. They were on time and checked in with me throughout the night making sure everything was going as planned. Kathleen was the bartender and if your lucky enough to get her you will not be disappointed. She went out of her way to help me get things set up, polite and overall a really nice person. Overall I am extremely happy and would defiantly North Island Catering again!

It is difficult to put into words how grateful I am that I found North Island Catering. From the beginning to the end Allen and Christina were wonderful to work with. Allen went above and beyond what a good catering company should do. We needed a caterer for my daughter's wedding. North Island catering was one of the several companies that responded to my request on Thumbtack. When I contacted them they were very helpful and was able to give me a price within our budget. Our menu would consist of fajitas and tacos with all the fixings and would be buffet style setting. From the taste test to the wedding they were very professional and catered to all the dietary needs of our guests. Once we finalized the guest list we decided to do tacos for 50, fajitas for 90 and vegetarian fajitas for 10 people. They were able to accommodate for the vegetarian guests and the gluten free guests. Even when I forgot to mention one of the condiments we wanted Allen was on his toes. I had missed letting him know that we wanted hot peppers on the side. He thought ahead and got them anyways. I contacted him the day before the wedding about the peppers. He informed me that he had already purchased them. I was so impressed that he anticipated our needs ahead of time. They arrived at the reception on time and were all set up in the time frame that they had stated. Allen and his crew were very professional in letting the guests know which foods were vegetarian and which foods were gluten free. I received several comments from guests on how good the food was and how nice it was to have so many options for the different dietary needs of each of the guests. It made the guests feel like they were each thought of individually and that their dietary needs were important to North Island Catering. When everyone was finished eating they packaged up the leftover food for us to take home all without any disturbance to the rest of the reception going on. I was very impressed with how smoothly everything ran and how they helped make my daughter's special day a success. During conversations with Allen and Christina I got the impression that their specialty was Italian food. They did an outstanding job preparing the Mexican food we requested. I feel that they would do an outstanding job in preparing any type of food requested. I would definitely work with this company again in the future.

I cannot express enough the gratitude I have for Allen and his wife and all of his team! From the moment I first talked to him, I felt comfortable and relaxed, which is not what I felt when I talked to the preferred caterers that my venue was trying to make me go with. Allen made me feel as though I was apart of his family. He did so much for me and my now husband. I planned my wedding in two months and I contacted him about a month before my wedding. He was so fast at responding and even answered my calls/messages when he was off work! Allen was amazing, I honestly cannot say this enough, he went back and forth with some difficulties we had with my venue, but he fought for me to have my perfect day and I will forever be grateful for that. The food was sooooo good, everyone told me how good it was, and even my husband who is a picky eater loved it! Allen's team even cut my cake! And the food that was left over was given to us at no charge (which helped in all of the after parties we had). What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
No it's really quite simple, if you know what your doing. There are certain percentages restaurant owner need to maintain in order to generate a profit, pay employees on time, state taxes and etc. A experienced operator knows those margins
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Where is what you could expect once you have reached out to us. 1. We will contact back in hopes of setting up an initial consultation. Our goal is to try and completely understand the event, your theme, your budget, and the type of catering you seek. 2. If we have a meeting of the minds, we will then send you a detailed quote based on the information you have received. We will also offer to send references, and request that you go online to see some of our over 250 outstanding reviews. 3. Once you have seen the proposal, we could discuss a possible tasting, if it applies to your event. 4. We are the ONLY caterer that only requests a $100-$300 deposit. ALL other caterers request 20-25% down. Our goal is to make this process as easy as possible.
