Alex came to assist with two tasks. One was to install a floating shelf, which he completed with excellent quality and attention to detail. He also came to assist me a nightmare IKEA installation that I attempted months ago, but had to stop because I was stuck at a part. Basically, one of the screws became stripped and I needed to remove it in order to disconnect it from a other piece and replace a wrong part that IKEA gave in the original package (the pre-drilled holes were incorrect). Alex was able to use his experience to help me remove this screw and further assisted me in partially completing one of the difficult parts of the assembly so I could finish up the rest myself. I recommend hiring Alex for your handyman needs!

Alex replied very quickly came within an hour of my request on a Saturday night, which was greatly appreciated. It was a bit of a strange situation though, as he brought his young son to help with the projects and they proceeded to separate and he allowed the child to attempt to assemble my shelving unit on his own. They didn’t speak English well so the boy couldn’t read the instructions. I had to stop him multiple times to point out that pieces were backwards or that he shouldn’t be using a drill, as the instructions said not to use power tools or you could split the wood. Alex hung my mirror and it looks good but I did find it odd that he didn’t bring his toolbox. He asked to borrow both a hammer and measuring tape, and I would assume bringing a toolbox is standard for any handyman? His price was fair but I would not have hired a child to work on my project had I known in advance, so you may want to confirm.
