Introduction: About Me:
Hello! My name is Dr. Katie, and I am a highly experienced writer and educator. My mission is to teach, learn, inspire, and have fun!
I am a board-certified medical doctor (MD) and have a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. I am fluent in Spanish, and I am a filmmaker and published writer.
As an educator, I provide tutoring in calculus, precalculus, all algebra levels, trigonometry, geometry, physics, chemistry, biology, and all related prerequisites. I also guide students in preparation for standardized exams including the ACT, SAT, GRE, GMAT, and MCAT.
In addition to one-on-one meetings, I include the following services for my regular students: creation of custom-made practice problem sets and test preparation materials; custom made solution videos; between-session help on problems by text or email; study planning strategies; syllabus and coursework review; parent/student conferences; and general educational goal-setting discussions.
All tutoring sessions are conducted online using videoconferencing tools with an online, shared blackboard on which the student and I can both write.
As a writer, I edit application essays, academic publications, and grant applications. I am also happy to author grant applications or other professional projects when appropriate.
Before each session with a student or client, I prepare thoroughly to maximize efficiency.
I practice academic and professional honesty, and I ask that my clients, students, and their parents do the same.

Katie worked with my son as he prepared for the GMAT, reviewing and reteaching concepts that he had not practiced in some time. He said that Katie explained everything very clearly and provided additional explanations if he needed to hear something in a different way. He also appreciated her upbeat, positive approach and quickly respected her mastery of multiple subject areas. He met his goal on the test after only a few meetings with Katie.

Dr. Katie is rare gem and we feel lucky to have found her. She started off tutoring my teenage son in Biology and went above and beyond what was necessary. What truly sets her apart from other tutors that we have worked with in the past is her investment in him as an individual. She takes personal pride in his achievements and successes and is one of his biggest cheerleaders. Her results with my son were so great that she now also works with my older children and all of them have flourished under her tutelage. While working with them she has created personalized curricula tailored to each one of them, mindful that each learns in their own way, and in certain situations she has taught them certain concepts from scratch. She has a wide breadth of knowledge ranging from the sciences (Biology, Chemistry) to math (Geometry, Algebra, Calculus). She is dedicated, conscientious individual who really enjoys teaching. We thought of going with a family member and later decided on Dr Katie. She is so receptive and inviting...making my daughter feel right at ease. Her communication with my daughter and I is Tops. I started working with Katie on advanced calculus this year and I only have amazing things to say. I have always been a bit behind with math and working with Katie has made all the difference. Initially what was really important to me was finding a tutor that could help me learn the problems step by step and encourage me through the process. Katie helps me through the steps and gives me a push forward on how to solve the problems. She encourages me to ask as many questions as I need which is so important because sometimes teachers can be unapproachable and hard to ask questions to. Katie finds ways to address the concepts in different ways so if I don’t understand it the fully she gives me “more tools in my toolbox” to help me solve the problems. After working with her on certain challenging concepts in my math curriculum I have become a lot more confident in solving all sorts of problems. Not only is she efficient and knowledgeable, she is also reliable. I meet with her once a week, but when we aren’t in that zoom call, I can still ask all the questions I need and she is always there to help me with any questions I have during the week. I can tell that Katie really cares about her students and is so passionate about math and education.

Katie tutored my daughter, who is a junior in high school, in AP Calculus AB. She did a phenomenal job!! Not only was she well-prepared for their sessions, she explained the problems so that my daughter really understood the homework. Katie made sure she understood the overall math concept, in addition to the individual problems. Katie really connected with my daughter. She always made her feel comfortable and gave her confidence in math. She always touched base with an update after every session. I know Katie personally and would highly recommend her. She is thoughtful, communicative, intelligent, honest and ethical. A+++++
