FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Depending on the type of legal work required, I offer either a competitive hourly rate or a flat fee for my legal services. My hourly rate is lower than the marketplace average charged by other attorneys doing the same work. The various flat fees I offer typically represent a significant discount from my hourly rate. From time to time, I also offer "combo" packages. An example of a "combo" package is my all-inclusive Safer Trademark Package, which bundles an inclusive flat fee for not only search, prep, and filing, but also covers anticipated non-substantive office actions after the application is filed. The flat fee represents at least $150 in savings over purchasing the individual flat fee service packages and an approximate 25% savings over the hourly rate. More complex and substantive office actions and oppositions are bundled in the "combo" at a discounted hourly rate. Choosing a "combo" package thus allows you to lock in lower prices and assure yourself that no matter what happens with your trademark application, you will have the benefit of professional legal representation on your side.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically I have an initial consultation either in person, via telephone or via computer to find out about the client's needs and determine if I can help them. Then we agree on a plan and terms of representation. Depending on the type of legal matter - I may send an intake form that collects the necessary information to permit me to commence work immediately. Throughout the process the client will receive timely updates and consultation, via their preferred, email, telephone and/or via the Thumbtack app.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1999. I am licensed as an attorney in Illinois, the US Dist. Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the International Criminal Court, the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, and the State Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina. I have been admitted pro hac vice both in other US jurisdictions and Internationally. As a Trademark attorney, I am authorized to provide legal services to clients across the entire United States. I handle both transactional work and litigation.
