FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with beginnning school students all the way through adult amateurs. I focus of good technique and developing musicality thus enabling my students to develop their artistic abilities to become talented and expressive musicians. Together we work on techniques that make flute playing rewarding and enjoyable, and choose repertoire from all different eras and genres, including jazz and blues.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
It's important to feel comfortable with your teacher, but it's okay to feel challenged too, like when you challenge yourself to learn a new technique or new piece. The discomfort of struggling at the beginning soon gives way to satisfaction and pride when your goal is achieved, like learning a new sonata, etude or blues riff. So lessons can be challenging, but they should also be fun. If you're not enjoying yourself, why do it?
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I wish more people appreciated the value of music education. It has excellent brain health benefits that will enhance your entire life, both professionally and personally.
