FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Because I am new to the wedding industry, I am always learning about the latest trends, education, expos, fairs, etc.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
While teaching, I began planning events for the staff's Social Committee, staff bridal and baby showers, and helping with school fundraisers. Although I still love teaching, I noticed myself gravitating toward planning events to help me reduce stress from the classroom. I had always known I loved event planning, but that's when I decided to change careers. I was happiest when planning someone's special event!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Vendor communication is a very big job. Not just vendor communication for the sake of saving the bridal couple time, but to keep them stress free. Vendors could communicate to the bridal couple by themselves. My job is to communicate things before the bridal couple even knows they need or want something. I need to know what needs to be done and what details need to be handled before the bridal couple realize it. Another big job is organization. I write down every appointment, name, number, and keep every piece of information received. I'm like a personal assistant, only I won't pick up your dry cleaning (unless it's your wedding dress of course)!
