When my daughter came home from school distraught after taking her first AP Physics test and getting what might have been her first C ever, I was desperate to find her professional help. I spent the following weekend researching tutors and reading reviews across multiple platforms. I narrowed it down to a few options. My first pick was Julia and I was confident in my choice after overhearing the first few minutes of her first session with my daughter. My daughter confirmed my impression when she committed to 2 hours of tutoring with Julia on every Sunday afternoon throughout the school year. Julia is a pro and it’s evident in her professionalism, clear communication, and ability to adjust her teaching style to optimize the students learning. My daughter is much more confident in Physics, feels prepared for the AP Physics test that she will be taking shortly and expects to complete her Jr Year of HS with an A or a B in AP Physics. I am beyond grateful for Julia’s help with O-Chem. Her explanations are easy to follow and apply. Her tutoring structure keeps you ahead of the coursework, and the practice she provides makes you look at course material more critically. My daughter was struggling with her Honors Algebra and Chemistry class when I decided to seek tutoring for her. That is when we found Julia. Julia has been of great help to my daughter. My pricing is based on how advanced my student is in their studies.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always begin with an evaluation of my students' current knowledge based on their work done in school, after which I suggest a personalized plan to tackle their goals based on how much time they have before their next test, end of the semester etc. I always tailor my teaching to my students' personal needs. No student is the same nor do they all learn in the same way so I adapt my teaching style to best serve them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently a medical student at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. I completed my undergraduate at Loyola University Chicago graduating Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. Biochemistry with Honors and a B.S. Molecular/ Cellular Neuroscience with High Honors. Due to my rigorous coursework, I am very familiar with the standards set upon college students and I myself have struggled and preserved through this material. I know what it takes to ace the dreaded "weed-out" classes of STEM and I know how to guide my students to success. Likewise, in high school, I took many AP classes including AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics 1, and AP Physics C among many others, giving me a unique and very recent perspective for mastering these difficult courses.
