Cater 2 U Catering does everything from in-home cooking, private chef services, weekly prepped meals, onsite catering, and cooking on the road for musicians like Julian Marley and John Popper from Blues Traveler. I have had the opportunity to work with some of the best chefs in the Chicago land area. I've also had the pleasure of meeting and working for some of the nicest clients. I love the fact that I get to make custom menus for each event experience we do, it keeps me on my toes artistically.

I had the pleasure of working with Mike, Culeen and Matt for my engagement party a few weeks back and it was a great experience! From the first call with Mike to the cleanup at the end of the party, I could not have asked for a better experience. I will admit that planning is not my forte and with just over a week before the engagement party, I still needed to hire a caterer to help feed 15 guests for the event! I was lucky enough to connect with Mike who listened to the dietary restrictions of the guests and helped plan an incredible menu. He went so far as to combine my fiancee's favorite dessert (cheesecake) and mine ( creme brulee) and put together an amazing combination of a creme brulee cheesecake! Anyone who has gone through an engagement understands the nerves that can arise up until the question is popped! Needless to say I was a bit antsy the few hours leading up to the event and figured i'd head up to the venue and check things out (it was held at the party room in our apartment.) When checking out the venue I realized I had gotten something incredibly wrong....there was NO STOVE in our club room!! I frantically called and texted Mike to let him know and he said not to worry about it and that he would figure it out. He kept to his word and somehow used sternos to cook our meals....and believe me when I say everything came out better than I could have imagined!! Mike and team were lifesavers and helped make the night run much smoother than I could have hoped for. Rest assured I'll be using Cater-2-U again for my future events! Thank you Mike, Culeen and Matt!

Chef Mike and his team prepared amazing appetizers for a cocktail party at my house. Our guests loved the food – the savory waffles topped with fried chicken and spicy honey were a crowd favorite! Chef Mike arrived on time; got everything organized; prepared and served the food and drinks; and cleaned the kitchen spotless before finishing up. He and his team made hosting a party so easy. I’ll definitely be hiring them again!

We had Cater 2 U help with a wine and cheese mixer for future employees and they did an excellent job. The food was great and the service was even better. The staff did a great job making sure food and drinks stayed fresh and refilled. Chef Mike really did an amazing job with the food and easily helped put together a few vegetarian options for us that everyone enjoyed. I will definitely be using their services again.

Chef Mike and Chef Matt took care of everything. Great service, great food, and handled coordinating all of my bar needs as well. Hosted a party of ~20 in my home and we didn't have to think about a thing other than enjoying our company. Thanks Chef!

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My prices are based off of the services we offer and the food selection the client chooses. With almost every job, 2 schooled chefs show up, cook or set up for the event, refill trays, and clean up after. Prices do vary depending on if the meal is plated, buffet or drop off. We also offer bartenders who are basset certified, and excellent waitstaff. All prices and fees are discussed up front before initial payment is taken, there are no hidden fees or surprises.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new customer I like to ask as many questions as I can to fully understand what they are looking for. Once I have a grasp of that I send out their personalized menu. Once hired, we are there so you can enjoy your event. Give us a quick tour of your kitchen, grab a drink, sit back and enjoy!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Both myself and my sous chef are schooled chefs from The Illinois Institute of Art Chicago. We both hold state of Illinois and City of Chicago food safety licenses.
