I will preface this review by saying Reese did not end up performing handyman work for my team. I have changed this review from a 2 to a 4 only because Reese did call and leave a message which shows he is passionate about the work he performs and he is correct that I cannot judge his team's handyman work since they did not perform any work. My initial review was sudden and I did not get a chance to write a formal explanation. My review was based off of my first impression over the phone. I, as well, have a very busy and demanding profession so any time I take to speak with you over the phone, I do expect respect and professionalism. It is true Reese was the first one to respond to my inquiry for the work and he explained the scope of work in detail. I was very impressed by this! However, when I had asked over the phone if it was possible to extend our days or have more men that originally requested, Reese's tone changed and he sounded irritated with me over the phone, stating "you're going to hire me or your not". This was after discussing the scope of work for about ten minutes. Reese seems like a very passionate and hard working man and he likely has an amazing team. I would not take the time to write a long review if I didnt feel like that was the case. I respect his decision to call and leave a message after the first review was left and I felt the need to better explain my initial reaction to that phone call. I admit I made the review in haste and frustration because I expect that professionals will be friendlier when offered work and I also was hard pressed to find someone and felt initially irritated by that interaction when I had spent time out of my day as well to speak with him. Do not base this review on his team's skill. It is solely a review based on first impression over the phone. But like I did mention, his initial response through Thumbtack and his ability to describe the scope of work and his attention to detail did not go unnoticed!Jun 5, 2019Verified

Reese did a great job! Will definitely rehire in the future.Oct 1, 2018Verified
Excellent work! Reece is very responsive, reliable and knowledgeable. My project was not simple, so it required several emails back and forth - and all my questions and concerned were promptly addressed. On the day of the project, Reece and his helper showed up on time, worked quickly and neatly. The end result is beautiful. Highly recommended!Jan 12, 2018Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? For now, it is a half day minimum. It was a painful decision, but I had to start turning down small one piece assembly jobs in order to make my business profitable.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? For assembly jobs; if the customer is able to give me specific product information, I can usually obtain the assembly manual, review it, and come up with a job estimate that I will almost always stand by. I do not do hourly rates. If I miscalculate, and the job takes several hours longer than anticipated, that is my loss. I don't like being rushed. Recently, I did a job for a client who had a tradesman in for some other job. That tradesman had to make four trips to his car, and billed the client for the time. That client was not planning on bringing that tradesman back for more work. For the pictures and mirrors, if they are large and heavy, it helps to have the customer email me photos of the backside of the item. For older heavy items, often times the wires on the back are frayed, and new wiring and possibly D-ring straps must be put in place.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Dad. I think the one lesson above all others was: "If there is a problem, you do not have a tantrum, use your brain and figure it out". I have gone through a number of assistants, the good ones all learned pretty much the same thing from their Dad.
