FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
A new entry level gas furnace, A/C, and coil replacement can be as low as $4800 (includes all labor and misc materials). Most people choose a more efficient system. It costs $6015 for the average size home. The cost difference will be paid back with lower utility bills in a short time. A single zone ductless mini split heat pump starts at $2000 installed.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First I want to know if I can get someone else to pay for part of it. Ameren has great incentives, for example. Then we discuss their options. Once they choose, I put it in the schedule and install the equipment. Payment is due upon completion. I do not collect any money up front.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I purchased the ice plant in Carlyle IL in 1993. It was not practical to call someone every time there was equipment failure, so I took classes and apprenticed with an experienced technician. I sold the business in 1998 and work primarily on commercial equipment for several contractors in St Louis. I started Coolheat Plus in 2011. Our focus is residential, but I do have several commercial clients.
