Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Photo shoots! I'm always doing photo shoots!! I love it so much!! It's so much fun!! But I would love to get more clients outside of photographers :)

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. There are a lot of people that call themselves something just because they have the products that we all hear of. But being a makeup artist is about having the skills. You can have all of the products in the world, but if you don't have the skills to back it up, what good are those tools. Be sure to look at that artist's work first. Never take their word for it. Be sure to look at portfolios before hiring! Like mine!!! :D

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Women, the secret to a multi color look is to BLEND BLEND BLEND! I keep telling my clients that blending is the key!! But for some reason, they never listen. haha!

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Me being a MUA, I have to know about all tools, looks, products, colors, etc. For my client, they should always be aware of what look they want to go for, what they are allergic to and what bothers their eyes (IE:pencil eye liner) I like to know these things before I begin so that the client is sure to have the best service possible. I want them to be comfortable and fully satisfied with my work.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My work is very neat, clean and high end work. I work for professional photographers doing professional work. My work is very unique and always leave my clients in awe. I've been doing makeovers for quite some time now and I've turned clients into something they've never imagined themselves being. I work for what my client wants, while adding a mix of my own to put my signature on the look. I never get a bad review with my work.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love making people feel confident in themselves!! So many women have such low self esteem and I love showing their unique features on their faces!! Makeup never covers, it simply enhances your already gorgeous features!! There's something about that winning smile that my client gives me when I'm finish, that just reminds me time and time again why I love what I do!

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. How long have you been doing makeup? You're so young! 3 years! I've been practicing and hustling and hustling and practicing!! Now it's time to really get my name out there! I may be young, but I know I have talent. And I want the world to see it.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I don't have a specific favorite one, but I always love when the client looks into the mirror to see the final look, and they are just in complete shock and overwhelmed with happiness! :)

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I wish they knew exactly how much hard work ALL makeup artists put into their profession. There's so much that we do to make sure that we stand out from others and be the best of the best. It's definitely a struggle.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. In high school, I started getting into makeup a lot. I would play with colors, different liners, products, foundations, etc. I practiced on myself a lot. Once I graduated, I had a friend getting into photography and fashion. He really needed a makeup artist. I was unsure of myself at first, but then I figured if I really put some hard work into practicing more, I could be his makeup artist. I wasn't as good as I am now in the beginning (which is normal) But the more I did it, the better I got. And the better I had gotten, the more I fell in love with it. I LOVE WHAT I DO!!

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I'm honestly proud of all work that I do. I'm not being cocky or anything. I just know that my line of work is very upscale. I work very hard and put a lot quality into every single work that I do. I make sure to never have a job that I hate.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I must say! Youtube is definitely my best friend when it comes to learning new things that I have never tried before.
