FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing system is very straightforward and transparent. For custom work, I estimate the price using 3 variables: 1) Material Cost 2) Labor/Delivery 3)Professional Finishing In most cases the Labor category is what primarily drives the cost. the more complicated the design, the more it will cost. Also, the use of high-end materials like Black Walnut will also add up, it is almost always worth the little extra for a beautiful piece.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with new clients my process is simple and straight-forward. During out initial discussion I will ask you details regarding the piece you want, the style and design aspects you are looking for, the wood and finish, and also the application of how the piece will be used. After this, I will sit down and sketch out three idea which I will then send in an email describing the details of each one. After a few days I will reach out and we will most likely talk again about the chosen design adn I will provide an estimate for the cost. Before I begin work I require a 65% downpayment to establish your spot in my queue. Typically, my lead time runs about 10-12 weeks. Please note that I do not provide firm delivery dates on my work, the nature of custom furniture is that projects evolve and typically take longer than expected. When I begin work on your piece I will develop a dedicated page on my website for your project. Here, you will be able to follow along and check periodically to track my progress. As I approach the final stages of the construction process I will reach out to set up a delivery date. Upon delivery I will require the final 35% payment and from then on the new piece is yours!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied Architecture at the University of Missouri where I graduated with honors in 2016. Furniture-making has always been my main job, but after graduation I worked in a small firm where I learned the trade of architecture and how to work with fellow designers. My design background and my skills of fine craftsmanship allow me to produce custom pieces far above many other people in my field.
