Introduction: REMOTE TUTORING AVAILABLE! I am a certified high school English teacher with 20+ years experience, and I still love going to work each day. I enjoy the one on one time with students that tutoring allows. I have tutored all levels from elementary through high school and my curriculum includes writing, grammar, reading comprehension and writing. Strong reading and writing skills are important for any student to succeed. I love that I am able to meet a student where he/she is and help him/her improve these necessary skills.

Mrs. Maikisch has really helped my daughter a lot. I have seen the progress of my daughter reading level and her comprehension. She has been very flexible with me with my work schedule to help my daughter build her reading comprehension and skills. My daughter was struggling in reading, but now her reading is a a lot better. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I give discounts for multiple students tutored in the same hour. Regarding cancellations, I realize that life happens and cancellations/rescheduling needs to occur. If I have not left for the job, there is no charge. If I am on my way and you have to cancel, I charge half. If I get to the job and there is a cancellation, then I charge the full rate.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I speak with the customer by phone or Zoom and answer any questions and concerns they may have. At the first meeting I assess the student and discuss an academic plan for the student regarding how I feel I can best help the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching high English (freshmen through AP Literature) for twenty years. I have been tutoring for over ten years. I also teach a prep class for the reading, English and writing portions of the ACT and SAT.
