FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My fee and expenses depend very much on goals, style of shoot, editing goals and location we are shooting at.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
PORTRAITS / HEADSHOTS : With a new client I like to email or call and get a sense of what the goals and uses for the photos will be, first. Then, if travelling to you we decide on studio/location for the shoot. Once together I like to have several clothing options and looks. I set lights for each look to compliment the goals and expectations for each. Between each look we flag images together that are winners. After the shoot is done I do editing and retouching including but not limited to color correction, blemish removal, dodge and burn process, and sharpening and smoothing, On beauty-shots this can be a lot of work and on natural portrait styles this can be less. Headshots fall somewhere between and again goals and usages dictate retouching. These retouches are typically done in less than 2 weeks. (but we'll discuss if you need a fast turn around). I often work with make up artists, they are available upon request for an additional fee (and if you are wondering..yes its worth having a pro). FASHION: For fashion I like to work closely with the stylist and love mood boards and style sheets. The process is similar but the stylist is my main 'client'. Also i need to know early whether the images are for print or digital reproduction. PRODUCTS: Size and value often dictates if the products are shipped to me or I go to them. Again I like to talk to a stylist if there is one on the layout team and understand their needs and delivery requirements. Often there are special goals to keep in mind that I like to have in writing.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters in Fine Art with a specialty in Film/Photo from UIC.
