FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rates are reasonable. I offer no discounts. My services are high quality.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask them what they are looking to improve. I then assess their skills with a few related quizzes or a game of chess if that's what I'm assessing. I then prepare an individualized lesson plan to meet their specific needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an associates degree that's focused on special education and child psychology. I've worked as a teacher, daycare teacher, Special Education Aide, and tutor on and off for the last 20 years. A wise chess player once said, "You must lose one thousand games before you can get better." My training in chess is as follows. I learned the basics from a babysitter when I was young. Then I re-discovered it while going to a chess club with a boyfriend about 15 years ago and I've been learning about it ever since then. About 2015 I was asked to teach in an after school program at a christian school. I have worked with kids from first grade through junior high here. Then I was referred to two other christian schools in their zones. I've worked a lot with beginners encouraging them to try again when they want to give up.
