Originally from Detroit but currently based in Rockford, IL, I have been dedicated to the art, craft, and business of Acting for over two decades! After studying acting at California Institute of the Arts, then Marymount Manhattan College and The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, I went on to train with some of the best acting and speech coaches. I am a well-trained actor and coach who has had the privilege of performing in various regions across the U.S. and even in Athens, Greece! Throughout my career, I've worked on films, plays, commercials, audio series, and music videos. One of my most significant accomplishments was working with Tony Award-winning Broadway Director Kenny Leon at The Public Theater's Joe's Pub on HOW BLACK MOTHERS SAY I LOVE YOU. In 2022, I directed a virtual acting showcase featuring some of my Acting students and in February 2023, I performed the lead role in a play called "The Realness" in honor of Black History Month. Most recently, I appeared as a supporting role in the feature film "McKenzie McCoy," now available on Amazon Prime, and starting in January 2024 I'll be joining Shakespeare & Co's northeast regional tour of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM as Lysander. . So far I’ve only had one session with Darius and it was so valuable. In the short time we had together, he made me feel comfortable enough to be vulnerable and open. Being a beginner, he eliminated my fear of embarrassing myself and provided a lot of resources and techniques to use going forward. And all of that was provided in his FREE trial session. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
First session is ALWAYS free! I also offer package deals every Summer so you can save on multiple lessons!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We always begin with either a monologue or whatever piece they’re working on at the time of our session. We’ll work through the process of analyzing a script at first and move on to incorporate speech, movement, and imagination strengthening exercises. I guide the actor through the entire process from page to stage (or screen).
