Taking lessons at Meadowsweet has been wonderful for my daughter, and it is the highlight of each week. Kathy is a marvelous, patient instructor that works with individuals to develop relationships with the horses, turning my daughter's simple wish to ride into a love of the animal.Jun 3, 2015
Kathy provides horseback riding lessons for my daughter. She is a great teacher and really shares her love of horses with all the students. I like how much time my daughter gets to spend with the animals and how she has learned the responsibility of taking care of her horse. The trail rides are so fun! Also, Kathy was able to find a small group for my daughter to be a part of - this makes the lesson fun for her and more cost effective for me!!Jun 8, 2015

Horseback Riding Lessons (for children or teenagers)
My five year old daughter had a fantastic first lesson! Ms. Kathy was so great explaining things to her, and leading her through the entire lesson, total trust. She even had my daughter trotting, and my daughter is usually very timid and shy! Excellent experience, I hope to return!May 27, 2018VerifiedMeadowsweet Ranch's reply
Kelly, Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review and for your kind words. Also, thanking for choosing Meadowsweet and allowing us to be a part of Emma's introduction to horsemanship. She was a joy. We hope you'll be back as well.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Whether a new customer has ridden before or not, we start the lesson program by deciding which horse or pony the student will ride, where to get the horse or pony from and how to prepare it for riding, and then how to care for it after a lesson is done. New boarders receive a warm welcome. I am more than happy to take them out and show them the trails, introduce them to other boarders and invite them to join in our extracurricular activities.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I was around horses as much as possible growing up. I worked at an equine boarding/training/breeding/livery facility for about 5 years when still in school. Bought, raised and trained my first horse when I was 18. I apprenticed with Eric and Michelle Clarke for four years, have worked with quite a number of internationally known clinicians and most recently have been a part of the Connected Riding program since 2004 in which I have worked with Peggy Cummings and a number of her instructors. I will continue to work with this program as I found it to be a program that goes along with my philosophy about horses and riding them.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?It was something I had wanted to do since I was very, very young. I can't remember a time I didn't want to work with horses. When the opportunity arose again for me as an adult, I jumped right in.
