FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
As petsitters we of course mainly focus on the pets basic care, but the animal's emotional welfare is often just as important. Dogs are frequently anxious when their owners are away, so if we can soothe and entertain them it helps calm these fears and make the time pass quicker for them. Cats don't always warm up to new caregivers right away but they too are reassured at the presence of people in the home, putting down food and doing the rituals that cats are so attached to like giving treats. We also care for the house while you are away, bringing in the mail and newspapers, watering the plants and just keeping up the appearance of the house being occupied in your absence.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would recommend that someone seeking Petsitting services make sure that their provider is either recommended by vets in their area, is already an established business in town or can provide client references if requested. A written contract and a detailed Pet information sheet are essential to a professional Petsitter. Be sure your service provider is using these. Another overlooked detail is ensuring that your house key is secure. We never attach any type of address/name information to a house key just in case of loss. A code number or the pet's names is a better system for marking keys. Lastly always let your sitter know when you have arrived back in town. We worry if we don't get a confirmation that the pets are back in the care of their families.
