Introduction: As a certified teacher, I have taught all subjects but am also endorsed in middle school teaching.
Over the past 10 years, I have taught Title 1 Math to kindergarten through 8th grades; 6th-grade math, science and social studies; 8th-grade science; 7th-grade social studies and have tutored math at the Mathnasium for grades PK through high school.
I love to use alternative ways to learning and utilize manipulatives to aid in my teaching. I also teach using real-world applications and the student's personal interests/passions in order to make learning more relevant and interesting.
I have a BA degree in human biology and psychology from Stanford University, a Masters in Teaching from National-Louis University, and an MBA and MA in Public Policy from the University of Chicago. I also have experience and enjoy working with students with special needs.

Jodi is fantastic!! She was able to squeeze us in and meet my daughter the next day after we first contacted each other. She was fantastic with my daughter...She can't wait for Jodi to come back and teach her some math!!

The plan is for Jodi to meet with my son 1x/week to review various middle school math concepts and homework challenges. She is prompt, responsive, and has shared different methods with my son for resolving problems. She has provided tools for him to use to improve his knowledge of factors. Her purpose at this time to keep him on task with 6th grade math, and to provide additional support where needed. She is willing to stay in communication with his teacher to ensure any concepts he may have challenges with are addressed. So far, our experience with her is great! We are so pleased and are recommending her services to others in our area.
