Introduction: At Barbara Zajdel Designs, I will give you my full attention as I take on only one or two clients at one time. I dedicate all my design experience to you. I will also paint and lay flooring, back splashes. I have been designing for over 20 years now. While I was in school, I took a 2nd place award for the state of Indiana in the NKBA (national kitchen and bath association) student competition. I also won several other awards during my studies. Kitchen and bath design come naturally to me and I love it. I love working with my clients to get just the right design for them. I want them to take an active roll in the design process, however I am more than happy to take the roll myself. I also have a 3D design program that can give the client a view of what the space would look like. This is extremely helpful and all of my clients have loved this perk. Hire me and you will not be disappointed. I love to make a house feel like a home. A client should love their home, it should feel comfortable and have the right flow. I love to see the look on a clients face when they see the finished room, or when they see the paint colors on the wall i picked and they love it.

Barb has designed and built cabinets for me, designed and Installed floors throughout our house and designed and installed a backsplash for me. She has also helped pick out colors for paint and granite countertops. She is reasonably priced and works hard. Everything turned out beautiful. I will not hesitate to call her again with our next project.

Barb helped remodel my home office. She had many good suggestions. She went out of her way to shop for possible purchases, giving us a variety of choices through pictures she e-mailed to us. She is very easy to work with and listens. We have since contacted her to help us with other rooms in our home. She has a great attitude and is talented and skilled in home design.

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $25/hr. For larger projects, I will do a project quote or can charge a percent off the cost of the project. The percent will be based on the size of the project. For the later 2, I would have to see the space and get an idea of the scope of the project first.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an associates degree in interior design and a bachelors degree in finance/real estate. I am great with a budget and design.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I worked in a cubicle job for over 7 yrs and one day the company was bought out, my position was going "out the door". I was jobless for a while and I spent my time looking for jobs, and on my computer designing homes with a program I have. My husband saw a few of them I did and told me I was in the wrong field. He said I needed to go back to school and study architecture or design. I looked into it and enrolled for the next semester. I have loved it ever since.
