FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My system is not all that complicated. When I start a project, I estimate how long it will take. Then, I use that estimate to calculate a flat fee based off a $30 hourly rate. This fee includes a specified number of drafts and revisions based on the original project description. If additional elements are required or other significant changes are made to the project, prices will be adjusted accordingly.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm always learning! I work on independent projects in my free time to gain experience and gain exposure in new areas, and I always have more project ideas than time to explore them. My latest quest is to learn jQuery and Javascript so that I can code more exciting websites.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I first came to Duke, I was planning on majoring in International Studies. I completed my first year of studies along this track and then, at the end of the year, realized there was no way I could get a summer job in that line of work. I had always done art and design projects for fun, but I had been reluctant to pursue design as a career because I thought it would be less fun if it became an obligation. Nevertheless, I wanted to do something productive with my 3 month break, so I ended up taking a position as a visual design intern at a co-working space called the LAB Miami. I had a great time and realized that I really did love design, even when it was a job. I've been working to learn more ever since!
