The entire system and services have been upgraded. The owner is very patient with kids. Lots of ooportunity to learn, ride, shows, help, board, lease, adopt, and have summer camp fun. Sara trains the smalllest to the oldest teenagers and is very flexible and understands a farm and the horse world. My daughter has grown and learned much in 2.5 yearsand is very confident now nd the people are always friendly. Sara focuses on your child with full attention.

I had mostly taken non-specialized riding lessons on horses which, while they have fabulous personalities, were not terribly well-trained beyond walk/trot/canter/"what's a half-halt?" I had learned the basics, but I was completely stuck trying to go further on horses who knew as little about what I was trying to learn as I did. Deciding to take lessons with Rebecca was the best move I could have made - she's super attentive to every detail while I'm riding, she knows exactly how to explain the biomechanics (my nemesis), and learning from a lovely horse who responds instantly to correct cues has completely changed my riding in just a few months. With the added bonus that the horses I ride on my own on other farms are much happier with me, moving more freely under saddle, and clearly getting the benefit of what I'm learning with Astoria. My confidence has sky-rocketed, and I've gone from being stuck to having a blast.

We rescued an older horse and with Nancy's help in a very short time we had her in good health and over the issues that she had from her previous owner. My daughter has also taken lessons from Nancy and her connection with any horse is tremendous. The lessons are not just about riding but how to understand, groom your horse.

I have been riding a Merkel Farm for about eight years. I have been a camper at their summer camp and am now boarding my first horse there. I have known the owner Stephanie Merkel for quite some time now and she is a wonderful person and instructor. She is very passionate about her work with her horses. As an instructor, she is patient, understanding, kind, and really does care about her students and wanting them to be the best they can be. The facilities are great with an indoor riding arena and an outdoor riding arena. The lesson horse are the best part, they are kind and willing for their riders. I have really come a long way with Merkel Farm and I just love it so much there. It really is my home away from home.

We have been with Jen Rogala for over 7 years. Jen is a rare find when it comes to professional trainers who still ride and train horses. Jen's work ethic and horsemanship is above par. She is a wonderful role model for young women. My daughter's riding has improved tremendously under her coaching. When it was time to move from our pony to a horse, Jen was instrumental in finding our gelding. Her ability to match the rider to the horse is outstanding. Silver Hawk Farm's barn is clean. The footing in the indoor ring is great. The care of the horses is wonderful. This barn is a must for horse enthusiasts who currently ride or who are looking to try the sport. Best value by far in the area. You will not be disappointed.

Ms Carole was a wonderful instructor for my daughter when she first started English riding lessons. My daughter had ridden a few times on trail rides and beginner lessons as well as volunteered at a horse rescue, but wanted to improve her riding skills. Ms Carole was focused on safety and patiently teaching my daughter how to ride as a proper English rider. She taught her dressage as well as beginning jumping. We highly recommend Ms Carole.
