About
I've been teaching guitar since 2012. I hold a Master's degree from the UMKC Conservatory. What I love the most about teaching guitar is noticing the progress of my students. I motivate them to practice by giving them creative assignments rather than just practicing standard technique or their current repertoire. I help students to choose their repertoire according to their strengths in order to gradually reach more challenging pieces, achieving this in a smooth developmental process. I teach ukulele as well, which is something I enjoy very much.

My daughter has only had one lesson, but she really enjoys working with Ms Aleia and that is very important. Looking forward to more lessons! I could only choose 3 reasons that we like working with Aleia. We would choose all 5 if possible.

Aleia is an amazing teacher and even better human being. She truly cares about her students and helped me a lot to improve my guitar technique during our lessons. I highly recommend taking lessons with her if you want to improve your guitar skills and learn about music.

As an adult who has always enjoyed music but never had the opportunity to learn guitar, my experience with Aleia was amazing. She is kind, relaxed, and teaches with confidence and patience. I am grateful for all I've learned with her. Totally recommend her classes.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My fees are $60/hour lesson, $45/45-minute lesson, $30/half an hour lesson.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If it's a beginner student, I pick a method book according to the student's goal and interest. In our first lesson, I start by finding the best posture and introducing them to the strings, tuning, and basic left and right-hand techniques. I teach students how to read from chord charts and tablatures; I show them simple chords and basic strumming patterns. In addition, I teach students how to read from the staff, if this is something they are interested in learning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing the guitar since I'm 8 years old.
I hold a Master's degree from the UMKC Conservatory.
I have a lot of experience collaborating with other instrumentalists and vocalists.
