About
Greetings this is Frank Renfrow the Piano Tuner. I have 50 years experience in tuning pianos in the Greater Cincinnati area I am now tuning pianos mainly less than 60 years old, without pre-existing conditions such as broken strings or other broken parts and in good working condition except for being out of tune or having some sticking keys. I may not be the cheapest piano tuner out there, but I have a lot of experience. Steinway Wurlitzer trained with 11 years at the Baldwin Piano Company doing the same work I do now tuning pianos in customers homes. I no longer do a lot of repair work involving string replacements or extensive repairs but will fix sticking keys, do pedal adjustments etc. I do not work on old players, old uprights over 48” tall or disc mechanisms or digital pianos. I mainly stay within a 30 minute drive of Cincinnati. Most of my customers are in Boone Co., Kenton Co., Campbell County, Anderson Area, Clermont Co. Montgomery, Hyde Park, Mariemont, Madeira, Indian Hill etc. I am only available weekdays M-F middays only between 12-2 due to having to transport grandchildren and other family obligations.
Customers rated this pro highly for work quality, professionalism, and responsiveness.

Was able to come the very next week after contacting him. He spent a lot of time tuning the piano, played it, made a few changes, played it again until he was satisfied. It sounds wonderful now. He was very pleasant. I would use him again and highly suggest him to others.

Frank was quick to respond and knew there was a specific window of time and met that for me. This was a surprise for my wife that was out of town and has been begging me to get it tuned. This was very out of tune and he did great getting it back. Had great follow up for me of the next steps to take. Didn’t have all the extra fees that other tuners come with.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard charge for a Grand Piano tuning in the Cincinnati area is $240 plus sales tax in Ohio. Depending on the condition of the piano it may need additional work but I can do what I can for the $240 standard tuning charge and quote for additional work needed to be done at another time. I NOW WORK ON GRAND PIANOS ONLY. I no longer take on a lot of jobs with a lot of needed repairs involved especially if the piano has a broken strings, hammer shanks or other parts. If the piano has not been tuned for many years it will most likely require additional tunings within the next year to stabilize the piano. If you are a distance outside of the Greater Cincinnati area proper I may have to charge an additional fee for my travel time and expenses, and I no longer travel very far outside of the I-275 circle.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I endeavor to always treat my new customers with the utmost courtesy just as if they have been customers for many years.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Completed Federal and State of Ohio certified Piano Technology Apprenticeship Program while working at Fitzsimmons Piano Company, a Steinway & Sons and Wurlitzer Piano Dealership, in Dayton, Ohio in 1974. I worked for the Baldwin Piano Company from 1977 until 1988 doing piano tunings for the Cincinnati Retail Division, in customers homes, churches, schools, etc., which I have continued to do out of my own small business from 1988 until the present. I also want to add that I have an Ohio Vendor's License and a Campbell Co., Kentucky Occupational Tax and Business License. I would have put this under the license section but there is not the option to put those in that section.
