Introduction: The smiling faces. In family court, I usually meet clients in moments of despair. Clients are usually full of fear and have questions about the process. I enjoy working with my clients and watching the despair turn to hope and the hope turn to joy. I had a recent client who was wrongly accused by Child Protective Services. She had gone through two different lawyers before coming to Tibbs Law Office. She had not had custody of her children for THREE YEARS!! After working with her, I was able to get her children returned within six months!!! I see the same thing in the many divorce actions that I have done. I meet a new client who feels as though this is the end. With child custody and the splitting of assets, clients often feel hopeless. I pride myself in being a glimmer of hope through this emotional process with my clients.

I have nothing but good things to say about Mr. Tibbs and Ms. Lane. They are the best in the business. They were so compassionate that I felt like I had a team fighting for me the entire time. I would highly recommend their office!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I believe in a free consultation. I like to meet in my office or I am willing to travel and do jail visits. To me, communication is imperative for a good relationship between attorney and client. I also pride myself on research and aggressive representation. Sometimes a case can be settled before trial or dismissed through motion practice such as suppression hearings, other times a trial is neccesary and you need a seasoned trial attorney. All options are explained to the client.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have an M.B.A. and JD degree. With two business degrees I have the training and knowledge to handle complicated business and family cases.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I was a Division Chief in the Adult Trial Division of Louisville Metro Public Defender Office where I worked for 11 years. In that job, I learned how to handle high profile cases with severe penalties, including life sentences.
