Introduction: I am a 28 year-old post-graduate business student. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with highest honors (4.0 GPA) and my Master's of Accountancy with distinction (3.9 GPA) in 2009 and 2010, respectively, both from the University of Louisville, where I was born, raised, and still call home today.
I have a wealth of experience for my age, tutoring both privately for individual families throughout high school and college, as well as more publicly in my role as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant (GRA) for U of L while I was enrolled as a Master's of Accountancy student at the College of Business.
During the 2+ years I was self-employed and serving as a private tutor for individual families, I got the opportunity to cultivate the skills that I feel are necessary to become a successful tutor,while serving students from all age groups and across nearly all subject areas taught to 1st to 12th graders.
The diverse families that I served I believe have made me extremely marketable as a tutor, because I have the flexibility and versatility in terms of being qualified to tutor a wide array of students of all ages on virtually any subject matter.
Additionally, while serving in my aforementioned role as a GRA for U of L within the Accounting Department at the College of Business, I had the amazing opportunity to further hone the skills I had developed earlier on, serving as a tutor for elementary, middle, and high school students, now being placed into a role where both my intellect and confidence would be challenged further by applying these same skills to undergraduate and graduate-level students who were generally only 1 to 2 years younger than me, some the same age as me, and not to mention adult learners who were twice my age.
While I did have many secondary types of duties (e.g., proofing scholarly articles for accounting faculty, performing research for accounting and finance professors, proctoring exams, etc.) that I performed in this role, my primary responsibility was to essentially serve as the accounting tutor for the entire body of students in the College of Business enrolled in any one of the dozen or so accounting classes offered during a particular semester. If a student had a question on process costing, the treasury stock method, the generally accepted auditing standards, diagramming the revenue cycle utilizing flowcharts, or the tax consequences of Section 1231 Property Gains, I was the individual on the "hot seat" responsible for addressing whatever question an accounting student had for me on any given day at any given time.
While my own personal field of study and expertise lies within the domain of accounting and business Administration, I hope that you can clearly see that I also have a proven track record of working with students of all ages, from 1st grade to 12th grade, as well as undergraduate and graduate students, on a plethora of subject matters, ranging from math to writing to accounting to science to history to statistics to Microsoft Office, and everything else in between.
I take great pride in seeing my pupils progress and make great strides, from the time I begin instructing them all the way until they finally bring home the stellar report card or amazing exam grade they previously couldn't in their wildest dreams have imagined bringing home with their name on it.
Teaching is truly a passion, if not the single greatest passion, of mine, and I would love to have the opportunity to share this passion with any scholar out there who is not afraid of a little hard work in order to accomplish the noble goals that they have boldly set for themselves to reach and exceed.
