Christian is a very experienced and responsible piano technician. He tuned my century-old Hardman New York piano with great care and intelligence, which relieved my worries about having such an old instrument tuned. He is very knowledgeable and explained all my questions with great patience. I truly appreciate his professionalism and highly recommend him.

Christian both regulated the action and did a tuning on our 45 year old grand and it sounds like a new piano. It’s beautiful and bright and I have much better control over the sound. I highly recommend him and his work.

Christian is a fantastic young piano technician. Very skilled, honest, and quick. When he tuned my piano at church it held as he promised it would and I did not have to call him back to come redo some notes which sometimes happens with other techs in the area.

The piano was perfectly in tune when Christian finished working on it! We'll definitely call him back for the next time.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The industry standard rate for a piano tuning now on average is $200. Depending on the city you live in, some tunings can be $275. My standard rate is $185, and I usually will include an easy fix for a pedal adjustment or a sticking key, and will quote prices for more involved repairs as I go.
Generally I charge the full $185 for new customers and people that tune once a year, and I give a $25 discount for tuning the recommended twice a year. Especially since Thumbtack charges businesses for leads, part of the $185 covers the cost of a lead, as well as paying my technicians, software and accounting fees, etc.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually try to gauge roughly how old the piano is and how long it has gone without a service. Then, after assessing the piano I explain to the customer any issues that might arise from wear and tear and/or the age and length of time it’s gone without being maintained. If it’s in great condition, I’ll also let the customer know.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a full-time piano technician for 2+ years, working for a full-operation shop doing rebuilding, regulating, tuning, repairs, etc.
