About
Groundhog in a Tree is an insured tree care business that also offers landscape consulting, design and installation inspired by permaculture and traditional landscaping. We aim to recycle wood, logs and parts of trees removed to create art or furniture. We manage tree removals with mushroom cultivation in mind when harvesting logs, while also offering stump remediation as an alternative to grinding. Our service stands out by the perspective we bring to a property owner, from the ground, to the canopy top. There is something about climbing trees, caring for them, creating long lasting and integrative landscapes, planting a small forest or edible woodland and garden that ultimately makes life that much more meaningful. We do not use toxic chemicals on lawns or in trees as we promote natural, effective planting practices and organic fertilization. We love our work because it is an extension of our value for nature, not a job necessity.

Groundhog in a tree, don't you just love that name! When deciding on a contractor for my project. I thought to myself "such a unique name for their company must mean this guy really love landscaping" and boy was I right! I will try to post pics of my backyard transformation's before and after pics to this company's profile. As expected with most new businesses there were hiccups in schedule, timing and cost estimates but these were quickly overcome by passion, mastery & quality of work. Romain (owner) is dependable, trustworthy, accountable and he truly loves what he does for a living and it shows. It's not just his job it's just craft! Groundhog is more than just a landscaping start up company, it offers unique and niche expertise in sustainable horticulture. Something I knew nothing about when I started my project but was amazed at the concept and eager to incorporate more of the concept into my landscape. Romain's passion is evident in the time he takes to bring to life his vision all the while taking me along on the journey. Infectious, inspiring, tenacious intrigued me so much I started researching more than just vegetable gardens. I look forward to his workshops education/training workshops to learn more, do more, be more. I can't wait to work with him again and highly recommend him to others. Open your mind, relax your schedule and allow Romain to deliver something beyond your greatest expectations.

These guys did a fantastic job! Very professional, showed up on time and went to work. They made sure to take care to not harm the tree during the trimming. Trees looked great and they cleaned up very well, i think better than it was before they arrived (lol). Also stacked firewood nicely for me! Thanks guys, i will be recommending you to my friends!! Romaine came on the date agreed upon and called to confirm his arrival. His weeding, trimming, digging and subsequent replanting, and general cleanup was all neatly done with attention to detail.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

When it is difficult to estimate how much time something might take, a standard labor price range of $50-100 per hour is put in place. The majority of the time, multiple quotes are offered, for example, when a home owner wants a tree removed. He/she can choose to keep the wood on the property, or, needing us to remove the brush and wood. both have different price sets. If someone wants a tree removed yet wants us to replant and create a garden, a sliding scale comes into play as well. So to answer the question, perhaps there is somewhat of a standard but every job is so very different.
