Hired on Thumbtack

I contracted with this man yes one man company, to remodel my bedroom. In good faith, I gave him $800 down in cash and got a receipt. I told him I would like to start Wednesday and he agreed. Then he changed it to Friday saying it was a three day job and he would be done by Monday. All other pros said 5 to 7 days. Well then he changed the start date again to the next week which was totally undoable for me. Well, then he wanted to change it again because of Halloween. I finally said forget it refund my $800. Well, now he refuses to refund my $800 because “he doesn’t trust me.” This could have all been avoided. Had he not kept pushing the start date back and back and back. And to have this job done in three days to me just did not seem reasonable. A complete tear out of walls and drop ceiling running new Electric new drywall, new molding, and painting.. and now we’re looking at going to court

Joyce first off refund will be done thru thumbtack for my protection there’s nothing wrong with asking about times and days for a job to start and finish you was mad because I could do it in 3 days and that made you mad so you fired us because other guys told you 5 days and we aren’t flooring it or anything 3 days is plenty of time to finish I said no problem for a refund but goes thru thumbtack for safety I don’t trust you you asked me to put cash in your freaking mailbox why would I do that what if it got stolen and you didn’t receive doesn’t make a lick of sense
