FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My system is not complicated. As I am working on this while in school, I just figure out how long it would take to complete a project and qoute a price. The more hours that go into it, the more it may be. The only complication I may have is involving OS installation or virus removal. As there will be a lot of downtime due to newer viruses, I may qoute an hour long price for repair though it may take 1-2 hours in real time. Due to the time needed of scanning, most of the time, I will not actually be working on the system. As I will be waiting for the computer to scan or install, I don't charge for the waiting time.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently in class to get the basic certifications at the moment but am leaving my focuses open at the moment in order to see how the industry changes in the next year or two.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was introduced to computers with the Apple IIe, but I never really got into it until I bought a Tandy 1000hx decades ago. It sparked an interest in me I never realized until that point. I started out with hardware replacement and upgrades, was introducted to Prodigy internet while the internet was still young, taught myself networking when it became something that home users can easily set up, started building my own systems, and taught myself wireless networking and device tie-ins over the last couple years.
