Introduction: Barton Dyslexia Consultant (Tutor/Screener)
Accredited Writing Instructor (Excellence in Writing)
Handwriting Without Tears (printing or cursive)
For dyslexic students, Susan Barton combined seven Orton-Gillingham
programs to develop the Barton Reading & Spelling Program. A student with any learning issues must use an OG evidenced-based approach. Dyslexia runs in families. Amazingly, dyslexic parents can be trained to successfully tutor their own dyslexic students.
Excellence in Writing provides struggling students with a checklist and many outlines making writing efficient and enjoyable.
Handwriting Without Tears was developed by an occupational therapist. Students write on a baseline and are guided by a midline.
Focusing on two lines rather than three makes everyone's handwriting legible.
I teach struggling students to spell, read and write. By the end of first grade, a student should be able to accurately read 35 words in one minute. If your student can't, call for a free consultation. I am grateful for the opportunity to help students before they fail!
