Introduction: Northshore Shotokan is located at Franco's Athletic Club. In Shotokan karate, the body, mind and spirit (the whole person) is developed simultaneously. Through Kata (Forms), Kihon (Basics) and Kumite (sparring), we learn to control our movements.
Shotokan is characterized by strong focus (concentrated moment of energy) made possible by full hip motion and total body commitment to technique. This is formal training, based upon traditional teaching methods, that gradually builds up ones physical condition and mental concentration.
