Piano Your Way

Introduction: I have worked with children for 16 years and taught piano privately for about half as long. I teach from a variety of methods, taking elements from the traditional "classical" approach, incorporating the best I know of jazz, soul, blues, country, rock and pop. I teach how to *listen* - and to utilize both aural and reading skills, to be able, with time and practice, to be able to sight-right a piece of music the first time one sees it, and to play "by ear" what music is in one's mind and memory. I teach to understand, and to bring to life one's own music. I love to reinforce that music is fun, and my temperament is such that I wish to make learning it as much fun as well.
