FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I work with a range of budgets, the important thing is to chat first and determine what you want and am I a fit in your mind to deliver on your project. Setting expectations and working with each other is critical before you start. Simple single retouched headshots start at $149, with a $20 per image retouching fee beyond the first one you select. Other packages are priced accordingly, call to discuss.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to begin by understanding what the client's goals are from our session. Sometimes a client has a strong idea of the finished product they would like as a headshot or portrait, and I will create whatever look they desire. Others allow me so suggest my vision for a certain look or style I feel would be most flattering or effective. My specialty has been theatrical/promotional headshots, where I envision and direct the client into a shot that I feel is a strong image for them. Another service I offer is an integrated actor's resume for the back of their 8x10s. I also deliver a "Playbill ready" file specially designed so they can look their best next to their actor's bio in the Playbill. I also do both formal and casual or candid portraiture, encompassing the subspecialties of children, newborns, new parents, maternity, as well as the all-important engagement, senior/graduate, and religious occasions. I also do both formal and themed professional or corporate headshots, for a variety of use cases, from straightforward business card/social media to the more extensive work for annual reports/investor prospectus and the like.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended Emerson College as a photography major, and was a performing actor and musician for many years. I still volunteer my services for my local high school, and for the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild (METG) providing actor's headshots and performance photos for the past 15 years. As a young man I have been mentored by many of the great photographers in the area when I began in the early 1970s, including summer sessions at the Maine Photographic Workshop with Arnold Newman, and Ernst Haas.
