FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As an independent bookkeeper and financial consultant I am not required to take continuing education courses. What I do as a QuickBooks Pro Advisor is to take the QuickBooks classes and online education. I became a Certified in QuickBooks Online 2013. Being a QuickBooks Pro Advisor since 2008 I have access to all the QuickBooks training and resources that allow me to remain current in all developments in the field of bookkeeping and financial management. I also have an MBA from Simmons College Graduate School of Management and do attend events and seminars offered at the College to stay on top of developments in both accounting and other fields as well.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
After working for over 15 years in financial services I decided to 'branch' out on my own as an independent consultant. Having honed my professional expertise in finance and accounting by working in management at Hedge Funds and Investments Firms in the areas of compliance, operations and portfolio accounting, it was now my goal to run my own business. I wanted to and have been able to and work one-on-one with my client's improving their business operations, setting up new businesses, working with non-profits and managing family offices. I enjoy the diversity of my client base which I did not have working in one full-time job.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Some of the most common types of jobs that I do for my clients are the management of the accounting tasks of the organization. These tasks include general bookkeeping (account reconciliation; paying bills), organizing financial information for tax accountants and managing cash flow. In terms of business operations I review all the financial operations to improve efficiency and record-keeping practices. Whether the organization is a business, a non-profit or a family I have handled the financial management accurately and efficiently.
