I hired Monica to edit my novel and I'm so happy that I did. She did the job quickly and her input and advice made my story flow so much better. I'm in the midst of writing another novel and will definitely be turning to Monica for editing!Jan 22, 2016Verified
Monica stands out as an excellent writer, editor and proofreader. She saved many of my projects when I was an Associate Creative Director at Bose Corporation that had been "approved" by others by spotting typos, inconsistencies, shabby work. She's fast, she's good. Not, not good, the best. Because she is an excellent reader as well, her eye is trained in ways that many others' eyes are not. She's on time or early. And her work is excellent. You will be very lucky and very pleased when you engage Monica.Jun 18, 2015
Monica has edited and proofread advertising work for me for 10+ years including print, scripts, video, and massive client presentations. In addition to catching the smaller details, she's great at seeing the big picture. I always appreciate her input and expertise. In fact, I wish I had her to proofread this paragraph, which is probably riddled with errors.Jun 9, 2015
Monica edited my two steampunk time travel novels (Timepiece and Timekeeper). She was thorough (catching typos, flagging too-often-used phrases, and noting usage that would be fine in British English but not American) and fast, particularly in the case of the second book, when an issue on my end meant I handed it off to her later than planned. (Not great client behavior on my part, so she really went above and beyond in getting the work done on a shorter-than-planned schedule. I promise not to do that again.) Monica was a pleasure to work with, and I'll definitely be using her services again.Jun 2, 2015

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Rates are based on the specifics of the job, and the stage of the project. My website, monicahamiltoneditor.com, has more specifics.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Generally, clients send me hard copies to mark up and return via mail, or send a Word document that I use the track changes tool to mark up with edits, questions, and comments. Most of our back and forth is via email, or within the document, if the client prefers working in Google Docs. Otherwise, I generally set up a phone call to discuss anything in detail. Clients are typically billed at the completion of the project, or monthly or bi-monthly, depending on the duration and deadlines associated with the project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in English from Providence College in Rhode Island, and have worked professionally as a writer, editor, proofreader, and marketing manager in my career, devoting more time to my freelance projects beginning in 2015.
