Unbelievable. I have a 12 week old Australian Cattle mix and almost no experience in training dogs. Peter is extremely professional, kind, and experienced. He came right on time to my house at 5:30AM and brought treats for my puppy and even gave me a clicker. I noticed a clear difference in my puppy and Peter helped me to understand more about animal behavior. I look forward to our next session this coming week! He is outstanding!Sep 21, 2015Verified
It was great to be able to work with Peter! He was extremely calm and patient with our 3 month old corgi and he really opened our eyes to things we didn’t notice before. I’m a big fan of his positive reinforcement methods and I must say that it’s been very effective in terms of managing not only Nala’s but also our own behavior! I would definitely recommend his services to others. Thanks Peter!Dec 15, 2017VerifiedTraining-U To Train Your Dog's reply
Thank you for my 100th review. The owner of "ROOM" (on your block) brings her 2yo Corgi to work and is hoping Nala will come in for a visit.
Peter was a great teacher as he repeated the central tenets of training enough to make it stick. Our concern was our rescue dog's separation anxiety and he taught us how to establish a relationship where our dog knows exactly what we want and reward that behavior. From moving his nose right, left, up, down for a treat to keeping dog from pulling leash on a walk, to introducing the food-filled Kong in his crate to keep him occupied when we leave... All of this moves toward helping him accommodate to being left for a few hours. We thank Peter for his diligence and kind attitude towards us and our dog.May 29, 2018Verified
One session in... my dogs used to go bananas when I got home, and, I waited a sec, clicked on the clicker that Peter brought me on the first session and taught me to use and... they both sat down quietly and waited to be rewarded for their quietness. Absolutely amazing. Peter was very punctual, nice, listens to concerns, customized the training to create new behaviors, etc. Big fan; highly recommend.Aug 17, 2017Verified
Peter was fantastic! After just the first training lesson we saw huge improvements in our 3 month old puppy. We contacted Peter mainly for her biting and he really was very patient and gentle with her. His focus is entirely on positive reinforcement rather than negative and it seriously works! After the second training session we saw immediate improvements that night and the next morning. It's important to know though that with clicker training it's all about consistency so you really have to spend time reinforcing your dog's behavior every single day. But as long as you keep up with training and use the tools Peter gives you you should see amazing improvements!Oct 3, 2017Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? Not complicated just unusual. My initial quote is for two sessions because I can't teach it all and you can't learn it all in one session. It's also too much for the dog. Follow up sessions are negotiated, factoring in time, frequency, distance ....
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I come to your home and begin with introducing myself to the dog and beginning the process of calming the dog down. Once the dog is a bit calmer I begin teaching by just "clicking and rewarding"any calm behavior so the dog can learn to take.a treat from my hand. Once the dog takes a treat progress begins!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I stay active through involvement with the American Kennel Club, "Canine Good Citizen" program. This past year I coordinated The Randolph Dog Day event with vendors from around the state and conducted the Evaluations for CGC certification. I can not do a CGC evaluation on a dog that I have helped train. I will help you set up with another evaluator. I am a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, the publication "Chronicle of the Dog" contains frequent articles by the leaders in the field of dog training and canine behavior. There was an article in the Jan/Feb 2012 issue about me as the organizer of the new Massachusetts Canine Professional Club.
