I teach people how to become dog trainers. We talk about dogs and dog training. While I talk I also mark (click) good* behaviors. When I click, you reward the dog. We continue until the dog is calm enough to learn. Then you begin training Dog training also involves people learning new ways of looking/seeing and some simple physical skills. There is too much material to cover in one session. I have one set initial package; old dog, pup, housetraining, aggression, service/therapy, agility... The first session introduces you and the dog to "clicker training" with whatever YOU want to work on first. We work until you, the dog and I agree that "We got this!". Rinse and repeat for each skill. Currently working with masks indoors (outside weather permitting). * good is any calm behavior or focus on you.

After one session, I can say that Peter did a wonderful job of handing our energetic 9 month old lab. Peter helped our puppy become more responsive to commands, and provided my husband and I with invaluable advice on what to do and (possibly, more importantly) what not to do for improving his behavior. We look forward to our next session with Peter.

We really enjoyed working with Peter. He provided clickers, some treat samples and a few other items, which was much appreciated. We live in Boston and our 2-year old lab-mix was getting overly excited and eventually aggressive, pulling on his leash, front paws off the ground, barking and yelping when seeing and getting near other dogs while on a leash, which there are a ton of! He is fine when we go to the fenced in dog park and let him off leash oddly enough. We worked on basic commands, leash walking and keeping him focused on us as dogs appeared. We had two sessions with Peter one week apart and there is definitely a noticeable improvement. With a few more weeks of my husband and I training him I think there will be a really signifiant improvement. I suggest for the dog parents to write down what is discussed as there is a lot and it is up to you to continue to train in between sessions! Peter was very professional and price fairly. Many places do packages but we felt that we would not need more than 2-3 sessions so decided to go to a la carte route and we are very happy we did.

My dog is only 1 years old but has had some behavioral issues I was afraid I would not be able to fix. Peter gives you the tools for you as a dog owner to feel confident in what you are doing and how you are responding to your dogs behaviors. He was patient and didn’t overstep boundaries letting the dog become comfortable with him before initiating any training himself. Now that I have started clicker training I have had so much fun doing it myself and seeing the way I can shape my dogs behaviors using these methods. He definitely was tired out after too!Thank you!

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Not complicated just unusual. My initial quote is for two sessions because I can't teach it all and you can't learn it all in one session. It's also too much for the dog. Follow up sessions are negotiated, factoring in time, frequency, distance ....
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I come to your home and begin with introducing myself to the dog and beginning the process of calming the dog down. Once the dog is a bit calmer I begin teaching by just "clicking and rewarding"any calm behavior so the dog can learn to take.a treat from my hand. Once the dog takes a treat progress begins!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I stay active through involvement with the American Kennel Club, "Canine Good Citizen" program as instructor/ evaluator. My B.S. is in Psychology. I've attended training classes and seminars. I'm certified as a Primary Tagteach Instructor, through a Karen Pryor endorsed program.
