Introduction: Hello! I’ve been teaching guitar and bass lessons for 20 years. I’ve recently relocated and I’m looking forward to teaching lessons in my new studio. I have a degree in music performance and I am licensed to teach music in public schools in Massachusetts. I have taught students from ages 6 to 80. My goal is to strike a balance between what each student wants to know and what he or she needs to know. Whether you need to learn how to play a song for your cover band or are preparing for a college audition, I can help you reach your goals.

Mike has been working with my son for about four months now, and my son is really loving it. Mike is great at what he does; he is very open to helping my son explore aspects of guitar he is interested in, while at the same time making sure he understands the essentials. On top of that, he's a really nice guy and is very professional when he's here. I don't think I could have found anyone more perfect for the job.

Details: 14 - 17 years old • No formal training; some self-taught experience • Yes, can read music staff • Electric • Rock • What the teacher recommends • Blues • Jazz • Yes, the student has an instrument • 45 minutes • I travel to the guitar teacher • The guitar teacher travels to me

I took acoustic and electric bass lessons with Mike from 5th grade through highschool. Now a professional musician, I credit my most useful musical skills to what I learned with Mike. In our lessons we covered every style of music from Mozart, to Charlie parker to Iron Maiden. Mike is fluent with all musical genres and can teach you how to be comfortable playing whatever you want to. Also from a practical standpoint, throughout the many years of lessons Mike was always consistent and reliable with his teaching schedule. We also never had any issues contacting him if we needed to adjust the schedule. I highly recommend taking guitar or bass lessons with Mike. He is really passionate about crafting you into the musician that you want to be!

Our son Andrew took bass lessons with Mike for several years and we were greatly impressed with his level of patience and professionalism. Mike is a very skilled musician and a great teacher. He took a sincere interest in Andrew's musical tastes and tailored his lessons accordingly. Without hesitation, we recommend Mike Goodspeed ! Bill and Michelle Jewers

If you know nothing about music, or everything, if you are young or old, if you like classics, or this new stuff, Mike Goodspeed can teach you. Music is like a whole different language, spoken and written, and Mike can start at the very beginning and get you up to speed quickly and the lessons are never boring!

I was a student of Mike while I was in high school. Not only did he teach me lessons that I thought were cool and hip, like contemporary pop rock, but he taught the beauty of music in general. Mike taught me how to read music and play guitar, as a soloist and with others. I'm very grateful for the time I was under his teaching. I had fellowship with other musicians through student concerts and I learned how to play within a group as well. He helped me become confident in playing any tab I could find online, as well as the foundations of sight reading. As a result, I can now play in almost any band; from church ensemble to jazz band. He taught me the importance of practicing everyday. He said, "one day without practice, and you'll know it. Two days and your teacher knows it. Three days, and the audience knows it." Mike is also a very friendly guy and a family man. His friendship is awesome and he's full of experience and talent.
