Flute Lessons

My daughter has been taking flutelessons with Ali for about a year now; during that time, she has made significant improvements in her flute playing and most of all, enjoys every minute of her weekly lesson with Ali! Ali is kind, supportive and provides excellent instruction to my daughter to keep her engaged and to help her progress. Ali has gone above and beyond this year to be flexible in her scheduling and immensely positive in her instruction (and guidance for practicing) to allow for our daughter to remain highly enthusiastic about flute. We couldn’t ask for a better teacher in Ali!

Her extensive knowledge and gentle, encouraging guidance make each lesson pleasurable. She's taught me a lot about music, practicing, and being patient with myself as I learn. I would highly recommend her!

Ali excels at tailoring lessons to the individual. She distills complex musical concepts into bite-size pieces, works on the basics but also finds music that is fun and pretty to play. She has a way of keeping my enjoyment and self-confidence at the center and she adapts her style to my musical, personal and logistical needs on any given week. I noticed that Ali’s focus on a patient and generous attitude towards myself carried over into other areas of my life. The experience has been unequivocally positive and I recommend her to anyone.

Ali had been teaching piano to our sons, mostly remotely now, for over two years. She is the best teacher we have had and my children adore her. She is very clear with instruction and well organized. She puts a lot of thought in finding music that will not only help her students progress, but also music they enjoy. She knows her students well and she clearly enjoys teaching. Ali is a dynamic, positive, invested, and very fun music teacher; we think the world of her.

FAQs
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically do a free consultation with new students so that we can meet, understand each other's goals, and get a feel for how lessons will happen in the future. After the consultation, I will send my lesson policy for students to review and decide if they would like to move forward with lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In 2018, I graduated with my Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Delaware. In 2020, I graduated with my Master of Music in Flute Performance from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
In high school, I realized how much I loved teaching when I would help my friends in band as well as math. I decided to go to college for Music Education to become a band director. I realized halfway through my degree that I loved performing and teaching flute equally, so I went on to do my Master’s in Flute Performance to become a better flutist and teacher. I have been teaching private flute students for 11 years and incorporate everything I have learned into my teaching.
