About
I have been a fully certified Pilates trainer for over twenty years. As a former acrobat/aerialist and dancer, my training draws from am extensive and eclectic background with a focus on biomechanics and technique. Each session is uniquely catered to the client as an individual unlike the majority of trainers who simply follow a set series of exercises with complete disregard to the unique needs of each individual's body. Quite frankly, I love being able to make my clients laugh while torturing them relentlessly! I think laughter is essential to health and happiness so including it in every work out is important in my mind. I also love to see bodies transform; even something as seemingly simple as seeing a client standing/sitting taller effortlessly, hearing that their back/neck pain has virtually disappeared and that they simply feel amazing after their session.

I hate to workout, and Sharon makes the hour fly by with her hilarious stories and high energy. I actually feel proud and empowered after every session!

Sharon has been training me for almost three years. I especially like her because she varies the sessions all the time and misses nothing. Slacking off on the exercises doesn't work. She trains people at all levels of Pilates from older me to people who can do anything. I've worked with several other trainers and none of them were able to keep me interested the way Sharon has. And she is fun. She is punctual. She makes it interesting.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I mainly do private Pilates sessions on the apparatus. I also do some Thai yoga massage and Reiki, sometimes I teach Salsa and Merengue, sometimes I throw in a little Chinese acrobatics. Occasionally I have a client who likes to mix up the sessions with a little of all of the above thrown in together.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I advise clients to thoroughly check out a trainers background, education and experience. Unfortunately, these days it's about as easy to get a Pilates certification as it is to get a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Therefore, the quality of training has diminished and you could be paying up to $100 an hour for a Pilates trainer who is actually only an "apprentice"(which means they aren't even certified yet, AND don't get paid!) or for someone who did a weekend certification or has only been teaching for a year or two. I'm not saying that you can't have an amazing session with any of these trainers, but...if you're going to be spending that kind of money and basically putting your body into someone else's hands, wouldn't you want someone who is extremely experienced and knows how to take care of your body and get you to reach your goals...safely?
