- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1. Initial Contact & Inquiry Reach out via phone, email, website, or referral. Gather basic project information; Type of work (renovation, new build) Location Budget (if known) Timeline expectations 2. Consultation & Site Visit Schedule an on-site visit to assess the space and understand the project scope. Discuss the customer’s goals, ideas, and priorities, design inspiration (if available), budget range and feasibility and potential challenges 3. Proposal & Estimate Prepare a written estimate or proposal, which may include: Scope of work Materials and finishes\ Labor costs Timeline Payment schedule If design work is involved, there may be a fee or referral to an architect 4. Contract Agreement If the customer accepts the proposal, a contract is drafted that outlines: Full project scope Legal terms and responsibilities Warranties Change order policies The customer signs and typically pays a deposit to start. 5. Permits & Planning Obtain permits if required (e.g., building, electrical, plumbing). Finalize timeline, material orders, and subcontractor schedules. 6. Project Execution Work begins as per the agreed schedule. Manages labor and subcontractors Orders materials Ensures compliance with building codes Conducts regular site checks Customer receives updates through meetings, texts, or project management apps. 7. Change Orders (if any) If the customer changes the scope or materials, the contractor issues a change order with new cost/time implications.\ The customer must approve before work proceeds. 8. Inspections & Quality Control Contractor schedules inspections as needed (for code compliance). Walkthroughs may happen at key stages (framing, electrical, final, etc.). 9. Final Walkthrough & Punch List Drake and the customer conduct a final walkthrough to identify any incomplete or imperfect work ("punch list"). Complete all outstanding items. 10.
