Introduction: Hello fellow musicians!
My name is Zak and I'm here to provide the best music education for you or your child. I have been teaching in Boston and the Greater Boston areas since 2015.
My core philosophy is to make sure we are having fun while learning because why would we as students not want to enjoy what we are being taught. Throughout my teaching career, I have catered individual curriculum for each student based on a mix of traditional methods that meets a modern approach.
While developing every student's core musical skills, I also introduce them to many genres and encourage them to bring music to the lesson they want to learn! Learning is a two-way street, an often lost concept amongst educators.
We as teachers can learn from our students as well and I very much look forward to helping develop the passion for music!
NOTICE: If you are outside of the Boston MA area, I cannot commute to your residence but I am always available over zoom with a professional audio and video set up.

If anyone is looking for a bass, ukulele, banjo or guitar teacher right now for your child, teenager or yourself, I HIGHLY recommend my teen son's bass teacher, Zak Baskin. We've worked with him the last three years and the transition to virtual zoom lessons this past year has been seamless and really productive. Zak is excellent with kids and teenagers, and he's clear and organized. He's mastered Zoom so he shares audio tracks, sheet music, whatever you need. We really think he's great and have recommended him to many friends, all of whom have been very happy! Zak is a Berklee graduate and can play all styles, from jazz and funk to R&B and metal, and is happy to meet the student where they are at in their musical interests and skill level.

My daughter has been taking guitar lessons from Zak since September 2020. Zak makes learning music fun for my daughter and she finds him very approachable. He picks music that the kids enjoy so they like learning to play the songs. He's helpful in figuring out how to get through difficult parts of the songs. Overall, we've been very happy and plan to continue her lessons.

Zak is an amazing guitar teacher. My daughter and her friend have been taking lessons with Zak for a year and have really enjoyed it. Zak keeps the kids engaged and motivated to continue to practice and learn. The progress they've made in a year is impressive!!

My daughter (age 10) has been taking guitar with Zak via Zoom for almost a year. She loves working with him and it's been amazing to watch her make progress! She hated in-school instrument lessons but Zak does a great job making it engaging and fun for her, and she's developed a lot of confidence, too.
