Introduction: Anyone can put a drone in the air as a hobbyist, but for commercial applications, you’ll need a licensed operator. I’m an experienced FAA Part 107 certified and insured commercial drone operator serving the New England area. I have extensive experience with commercial and residential real estate photography, visual inspections, mapping and 3D modeling, wedding and event photography, and generating aerial marketing content for clients ranging from the Massachusetts Horticultural Society to SunBug Solar. You can be guaranteed I will approach your needs and the flight thoughtfully, with the safety of people and property at the forefront. I handle all scouting for airspace restrictions, and apply for any needed authorization or waivers, if needed, to eliminate risk to you. Whether it’s capturing unique images of your wedding day, supplementing traditional real estate photography, or even getting a few shots of your roof for an insurance claim, douglasolyons | Aerial Photographic Solutions is ready to meet your needs with an elevated perspective. I love the unique vantage point a drone provides; even the most familiar looks new from above!

Douglas Lyons is absolutely wonderful. He came to our location in Wellesley, MA and photographed our garden venue. He has also provided weddings and events with aerial photography and aerial videography coverage. His work is amazing and he's very respectful of our policies and knowledgeable with his equipment!

I am a wedding photographer and Doug has worked a handful of weddings with me. He is always on time, ready to help, and ready to go. He understands the nuances of a wedding day and how to best utilize the drone for my couples. Whether it’s to highlight the venue, or to create unique portraits for the couple, he always delivers. And my clients love him!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

While I offer competitive flat and hourly rates, I welcome learning as much about your project and budget as possible to create a custom quote that works for us both.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

The more information the better! Safety and compliance are of the utmost concern for me when operating the drone. As early as possible, I'd like to know the exact location of your shoot so I may begin my online scouting process, checking for any airspace restrictions that may require an FAA authorization or waiver. If we're set to fly, I want to learn about your exact needs and timeline, and to get an understanding of your vision. Day of, I'll constantly monitor weather and on-the-ground hazards to ensure the drone poses no risk to you, your property, or to people in the vicinity.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am an FAA part 107 certified remote pilot and carry $1,000,000 in liability insurance. For years, I have worked with my spouse's photography business as a second shooter and assistant, and know my way around a wedding shoot!
