He teaches you not only technique, but also the way of understanding music and the goal is to express your feeling via music and being able to improvise. So far it was pleasant working with him.Sep 12, 2019Verified
This is just what i was looking for when i sought out a guitar teacher. Bertrand has a philosophy on learning guitar and music in general that I really align with. His teaching is structured, but leaves room to customize to my personal goals and style of learning. I would definitely recommend him.Oct 9, 2019Verified
Four years ago, I met Bertrand at one of his performances and I was blown away. I’ve taken lessons with him since. He isn’t just a fantastic guitarist, he is a wealth of musical knowledge and artistic insights. Bertrand is an incredibly versatile player and can help you achieve any musical goal you are seeking. In four years I’ve gone from chord shapes and strumming to someone who understands both the guitar and music. Bertrand is a master of his craft, and I know me and all of his other students consider ourselves lucky to have him as a teacher.Sep 20, 2019Verified
Just started, but looking forward to more lessons. Bertrand is very knowledgeable and a good teacher.Nov 1, 2019Verified
I have been working with Bertrand for over a year and a half and am so impressed by his teaching style. He is a thoroughly amazing musician, and his teaching style brings together so many aspects of his eclectic skill set. I started with zero musical experience and he is supremely patient with my growth. He also challenges me with song selection and suggestions, understands proper ergonomics and body positioning and efficiency, teaches music theory and songwriting, and brings in a wealth of skills that aid a musicians overall development. I would endorse Bertrand whole heartedly !!!Sep 20, 2019Verified

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?-Preliminary chat/ orientation on the phone, a two way interview of sorts. We talk about goals, styles, the music that inspires the student (could be anything at all) I present various style of learning so we can design a unique lesson plan and approach for that person. - i present the various supporting materials I use for teaching, and the path, the thread that will connect all lessons.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Berkley College of Music was good for theory, Mass Art was great for creativity. Before that, I self studied from books and mostly by ear from recordings. I learned a lot on stage: Rock, Blues & avant-guard bands freed up my the electric guitar side, but I never forgot the acoustic. Guitar for live Improv' Theatre for years was /is a great training in articulating on the spot an emotion. I study classical to improve reading skills, to understanding composition. I also study how the brain learns, and positive psychology. I do think a good teacher must remain a student forever.
