FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Generally yes - it is not complicated. It's simply a matter of discussion: what does the client need, how long is the gig, how far is the commute, what is expected. I'm pretty friendly and easy going and like to make sure I know all the details of what is expected ahead of time/before I state a quote, for my and my customer's clarity ahead of time - clarity leads to best results.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Communication! Making sure I know what the major requests & details are in advance. Minor details are okay last minute! If the event you're hiring me for is far in advance (on the calendar) I may ask for a deposit to secure the date. If it is a big event / expensive (and far in advance on the calendar) I will email the client a paper agreement/contract, both for my and your peace of mind/clarity. If it's a low-key or minor commitment (e.g. an hour gig booked at the last minute/within 2 weeks of the gig), I would not require a contract or deposit to hold the date.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I study and practice music daily. I also teach voice & piano lessons (and workshops). This requires me to be able to demonstrate musical concepts and skills to students. I did graduate from Berklee College of Music as a vocalist (though as everyone knows you can be a great musician regardless of a degree as long as you put in the time to master the skills.)
