Introduction: My dedication to performance and composition is paralleled with education. I have 10+ years of experience teaching drum lessons privately preparing students for college music programs and personal music projects while building up their self esteem.
Outside of my private lesson, I've been a guest faculty member at Berklee's summer program in 2021. And since 2017 I've been a guest lecturer at MIT for Heavy Metal 101, a student run course based on the history, culture, and musicianship of the genre.
In my personal music pursuits, I've been a internationally-touring drummer for 15+ years. Also, I am also a recording session musician/audio engineer for pop, rock, and hip hop artists. My drumming has been featured in video game soundtracks.

Matt is an exceptional teacher. My 8 year old, like most kids, has struggled throughout the covid-19 pandemic. Drum lessons have given them a way to channel explosive feelings and let them out in a safe, productive way.
Additionally, my kid is gender expansive and was overwhelmed with worry, anxiety, anger and unsure about socially transitioning. But starting lessons with Matt has been transformational. We’ve seen a massive shift in mood that is always strongest right after drum lessons, but now permeates the week.
My shy/anxious/self-critical kid’s confidence has grown exponentially. They have become more assertive in all aspects of life & more willing to try new things.
When my kid changed pronouns, Matt seamlessly shifted to using they/them & this gave my kid the confidence to ask the school & extended family to use they/them pronouns as well.
Matt puts forth the effort and energy to meet students where they are at, discover music that speaks to them, guides their exploration, and still provides enough structure for measurable improvement in their skills.
